The Studio was founded in 10 June 1936 under the name Soyuzdetmultfilm (abbr. from Union Children’s Animations). The name was changed to Soyuzmultfilm on 20 August 1937. Initially comprising only a few scattered workshops, Soyuzmultfilm grew quickly, soon becoming the Soviet Union’s premier animation studio. The studio produced exclusively traditional animation until 1954, when a “puppet division” was founded and the first stop motion-animated film released. The puppet division would later also make cutout-animated films.

During the Soviet era, the studio employed a maximum of over 700 skilled labourers and released an average of 20 films each year (the highest number was 47, in 1973).

The 60s, 70s and 80s saw the release of many films whose characters became an integral part of Soviet culture: Winnie-the-Pooh), Crocodile Gena, Film, Film, Film, Karlsson-on-the-Roof , The Musicians of Bremen, Three from Buttermilk Village, Nu, pogodi!, Hedgehog in the Fog, The Mystery of the Third Planet etc.

The variety of animation styles and the unprecedented degree of artistic freedom given to its many animators made Soyuzmultfilm perhaps the most diverse of the world’s major animation studios.

Story 1:
Winnie the Pooh recites poetry as he wanders the forest.Winnie discovers bees — and honey. The honey is way up high in the tree so Pooh asks piglet to help him get the honey. Piglet loans Winnie a balloon (to float) to the honey. Pooh covers himself in mud as to disguise himself as a black cloud. Winnie uses the balloon to float up high to the honey.

Piglet – You Look Like Bear Which Is Flying On A Balloon.

When Pooh gets to the hive he tries to get the honey. The bees are suspicious. Pooh gets nervous as the bees surround him. Asks Piglet to get a gun. Piglet returns with a gun. First shoots at the bees. Then shoots Pooh. And finally shoots the balloon and Pooh falls to the ground.

After Pooh falls he’s disoriented and wounded for a bit. Then, ready to move on he says to Piglet, It’s time for us to go get a snack.

Those who know me know I love me some sweet, sweet [...]]]> One of my regrets in life was that I wasn’t of age to see the golden age of Doo-Wop, Motown & soul. Last month I had the pleasure of experiencing the best live soul event in Los Angles, CA. I ever dared to imagine.

Those who know me know I love me some sweet, sweet soul. Those who know me know I also have a tendency to gush when I discover something good. Well. I’m gushing in absolute amazement & wonder of the sounds I heard tonight. Simply said, I smiled, smiled, smiled as if this were the best & most soulful day of my life.  Hell.  I even sang along!!

Friday Kind Of Love (on Wednesdays, at The Edison) was a joy to experience. If you’re a fan of Motown, Northern soul, modern soul, doo-wop or etc. this is the best live music experience in town. Lyndsay Haldorson layed down the Motown down so strong & pure like it was the 60′s. Ombrey DeGrate was absolutely mind blowing. I said he was David Ruffin. He said he was Eddie Kendricks. Don’t matter. Both were amazing & Ombrey was great!

Big ups to Sascha Escandon & Carolina Cerisola and everyone involved. It was an amazing evening of soul. Please, for the love of all that is good & soulful. Keep Going.
